The restaurant has been closed for the month of January. And I am more than ready to get back to work. While Andy and Karen were wining and dining around France. The rest of us were here reading Andy's blog. Looks as though they had a wonderful trip. Although France was abnormally cold and their accommodations were disappointing. "I feel for you" The game night we had planned at my house didn't happen due to bad weather. J.Rock and Jess made it, And we had a nice evening. I love a young man with a good appetite.
Colleen turned 16 on Monday and we had some of my Family here for the weekend.It was wonderful to have noise,mess,Lots of cooking,Dogs,cats,kids. We laughed we cried...Blah blah blah.
Really really looking foward to work.

Tuesday morning
It was real nice sleeping with the windows open due to the cooler weather.It is still August but it feels like September. I am sure the heat will be back but this is a nice break.
With the windows open I dozed to the sound of the crickets and the waterfall in the back yard.
I had phone calls from all four children this weekend so I can rest knowing everyone is healthy happy and exactly where they are supposed to be in the world.
Today the resturant is closed but were have an in service wine and food lesson.
Karen made up packets for us to study last week and i,m sure there will be a test. I am not good at tests but I'm sure they won't fire me. I guess I should be going over the packet again now rather then sitting here rambling. But it's early I have time.
On second thought I will get back to this later.

New at this
So my first blog was really corny,what can I say?Karen helped me get started after service last night.Well right after we walked third course to the party of 10 in the ladies parlor.
After spending most of my morning trying to get an account. Karen had me hooked up in no time.Thank you! Karen.
I was really inspired by A hunger Artist Http//ahungerartist.bobdelgrosso.com/ July 29,2008. I had just recently got started reading Andy's blogs at the Sheppard mansion .com. They are always great. And I am always impressed with how eloquent our Andy can be. He's also a great speaker. But can be like Ramsey when someone screws up. We all have a love hate relationship with him at work.
Lucky for me I spend the better part of my time in the front of the house. As bartender. And don't often have to enter his domain. Don't get me wrong he's not that scary . Intense is the best I can come up with.
It is all about the food for him,presentation and the service are extremely important to him too. So we as servers are encouraged to do it right every time. There is no "sorry" It's just not an option.
As I mentioned Im behind the bar (my favorate place) because for me its about the people. And in this venue, most of our guests are there for a special occasion. Lots of annivarsarys ,birthdays . Every one is dressed up and happy. I love hearing their stories. as much as they enjoy telling them. We also cater the the real foodies. the guests that are in the industery or just have a good appreication for food. We love to have them.
From the front of the house the guests that are celebrating their 24th wedding annivasary are just as important as the food writer from New york. there is no difference in the service one recieves.
Hats off to karen for that she runs a tight ship.
From where I stand behind the bar I have the advantage of feed back from the guests. I love nothing better than when they pop back in after dinner to say their meal was the best they ever had. And that does happen. Or they drove up from D.C for the evening because they heard how great the food is.
Makes me proud to be a part of it all. Is this starting to sound like brag blog?

My first blog post
Look, this is my first blog post So I am excited! Can't wait to hear from the rest of the world.I spend so much time typing away on the computer for no one but myself.
Now I can share my opinions.
